Manager, SW Engineering - GoodData

As a Manager of Software Engineering, you will be the leading force behind engineering teams, responsible for design, implementation, testing, and integration of backend components of our GoodData platform. You will direct and coordinate innovative technology programs and make sure projects get developed and delivered in high-quality and on time. 

As part of this role, you will also be responsible for attracting and retaining top talent; for mentoring and developing your team members’ career paths (technical and management tracks); and for promoting our core engineering principles and rewarding successes.

Your tasks will be to:

• Lead talented software and DevOps engineers developing applications on top of cloud services
• Communicate high-level technical strategy and product vision
• Encourage technical discussions
• Promote cross-functional projects
• Facilitate code reviews and testing plans to drive a shipment of high-quality code into production and on-time completion of projects
• Motivate innovation of product solutions by staying abreast of technology trends and ensuring solutions are engineered for a secure, reliable, high performance, and high availability experience for end-users
• Influence the team’s success through technical as well as people leadership skills
• Facilitate mutual team cooperation,  sharing of information, exchange of ideas, and business acumen to lead the team towards the successful delivery
• Retain and nurture talent in your team, work with HR and your colleagues on career paths and performance assessments of your team members, cooperate in recruiting, sourcing, hiring, and onboarding talented and passionate engineers

You should be:

• A team player in the leadership group with Interpersonal and communication skills, and the ability to keep a good balance between team’s and business interests

You should have:

• Bachelor or equivalent degree in Computer Science or related field
• Sound experience managing teams of software engineers (e.g. 5 years experience in the management of software engineering teams; 8 years overall professional experience)
• Experience with agile development methodologies and leading a team in an agile environment
• Experience with automated unit and integration testing in a SaaS environment
• Understanding of computer science principles including data structures, programming languages, operating systems, software engineering, databases, hardware, and networking
