Lead Measurements Engineer Wind Turbines @ TNO (Senior)
A a Lead Measurements Engineer within the measurement group of the wind energy research department within ECN.TNO, you will be responsible for independently preparing and conducting measurements on wind turbines, meteorological masts and LiDARs. Such measurements will benefit the certification process of prototype wind turbines, but also scientific research into wind energy that is being done at ECN.TNO.
You will translate the project’s requirements into a measurement and instrumentation plan, including the required drawings. Moreover you will ensure that these plans follow the guidelines of our ISO17025 accredited quality system. Daily tasks include setting up, testing and calibrating measurement systems and installing these systems in the wind turbines and meteorological masts. The generated date is being processed, checked and reported by you.
The emphasis of your activities will be on measuring power performance characteristics, mechanical loads and meteorological quantities. Besides these conventional measurements, you are invited to provide ideas for new measurement methods or techniques to keep the services of the measurement group at ECN part of TNO’s wind energy research department relevant and distinct. This way, the group will remain THE independent measurement institute in the field of wind energy within the Netherlands.
You will work in a team of 10 engineers and will receive all required safety trainings as well as job-specific technical courses to quickly bring you up to the quality level of your colleagues. Most of the work is done in our lab in Petten and at the EWTW test field in the Wieringermeer. On occasions you will be asked to work outside regular working hours, abroad or off-shore.
ECN.TNO will provide you with all the required safety training for working at height and offshore survival. Next to this training, we offer you plenty of room for personal development.
You have an endless passion for wind energy and measuring. Next to this, you have well-developed communication skills and you are successful in working in teams. In these collaborations, you have the flexibility to work together with others in various roles. And all of this you can illustrate with successful previous experiences. You achieve these successes because of your open and solid personality. Lastly, but most importantly you are aware of the daily risks and take all the safety aspects of the job very seriously. And of course, you have no problem working at height and offshore (medical check is part of the recruitment process).
Next to that, our ideal candidate has:
- A Bachelor (HBO) or Master (WO) qualification in the field of electrical engineering, measuring engineering or similar;
- Ideally familiarity with the aspects of working under ISO17025 accreditation;
- At least 5 years of relevant working experience;
- Experience with industrial measurement techniques, data communication and data processing;
- Experience with programming in Matlab and Labview;
- Good grasp of the English language, both written and spoken;
- An independent, entrepreneurial and structured way of working
